Mickey (Charles J., Jr.) Hayes

Graduated Virginia Tech, 1964, B.S. Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape Design Option
and practiced landscape architecture actively until the early seventies when I became involved in resort real sales and development, first at Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain in western North Carolina and at Bald Head Island near Wilmington, NC.

Married 1964-1977, no children, "significant other" Sarah Franklin, 2005 to date, happy as can be.

1976 moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and from then until retirement in September 2008 was President and operating manager of Kitty Hawk Land Company,
developing resort communities on the Outer Banks, among them Southern Shores, Sea Pines, Spindrift, Ocean Crest and The Currituck Club. Left my company with three new
communities well under way in Manteo and
Minnesott Beach, NC and New Kent County, VA.

Still an Outer Banks resident, but now spending much more time at our home at Treasure Cay on Abaco in the
Bahamas and at our new home (2009) in Blacksburg where we are nearby for HOKIE football, basketball, other sports and the great small town university atmosphere.

Hobbies: old cars. shelling, tropical plants, site and landscape planning.
Future plans: more of the same, maybe some real estate development consulting and
helping design and establish a real estate development curriculum and degree program at Virginia Tech.
